This group consisted of Natalie and Tommy in there '93 YJ, Lindsey and Travis in Travis' '83 CJ-7, Mark in his '92 YJ, Mike, Evan, Chris and Josh in Mike's '82 CJ-5, Scott in his '59 CJ-5 and Andy in his '97 ZJ. We started out at Wentworth springs. Unfortunately, we had our first Jeep failure about 30 minutes into the trail. Andy was testing out his new lift kit, tires, ARB front bumper and Warn winch when his front drive shaft failed. The stock "CV" joint installed on '97 ZJ's with the V8 engine proved that it cannot handle real four wheel'n. Andy was forced to remove the front drive shaft and drive back home to San Jose. We continued on and mad it to Little Sluice in the daylight. Tommy, Mark, Travis and Scott attempted Little Sluice. Unfortunately, Scott did not make it through Little Sluice. He broke a header while trying to get past the first large boulders. Mike helped him by using his winch to get Scott out of the Sluice Box. During this process though, Mike twisted his front drive shaft into a cork screw. It was still attached at both ends so he continued to drive on it until he hit the pavement. We camped near Little Sluice for the night. In the morning, Mike and Scott turned back and headed for home. I since learned the Scott tipped his '59 CJ-5 over on his way down the hill. No one was hurt, but the Jeep suffered a broken windshield and windshield frame. I'm waiting to see those pictures. Tommy, Mark and Travis continued on through the trail and made in through Big Sluice on to Buck Island. At the base of Cadillac hill we ran into a traffic jam at 3:30pm Sunday afternoon. 6 hours later we were at the top of the hill. The delay was because of a long line of stock and/or unprepared vehicles having trouble driving the hill. Many vehicles were broken or in the process of breaking.
