Natalie and I drove out to Calico on Sunday morning. We stopped at the ruins and took a few pictures with the Jeep. Next, we setup camp: After Darrin, Kathy and Nathan showed up, we had a campfire. The first picture is an 8 second exposure with no flash. The second is a normal exposure with flash: The following afternoon (New Year's Eve day), We drove down to the entrance to Doran Canyon. We were expecting to see a lot of other Jeeps out since Cal4WD was having an event, but we didn't see a single other Jeep yet. The entrance to Doran Canyon is extremely washed out right now. It made it very challenging and exciting. It use to be it was a challenge to drive the first 150 feet or so without pushing the clutch. I would say that's near impossible right now, unless you don't mind setting the Jeep on it's side. Natalie and I continued the trail and finished in 35 minutes. We did come across three other vehicles along the trail. Here's some pictures of the entrance with some people to give you an idea of the size of the holes: This afternoon, some more people showed up, Rich Brown, Ryan, Kimmy and Jodi. We all sat around the fire and tried to stay up till midnight. I took several long exposure pictures, including the last one which was Darrin's moon competing with the rising moon:
